Today we went to the Ordnance Museum at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, and we saw two C-130 pilots practicing maneuvers over the museum. Look at how sharp of a turn they made.

Budding Entrepreneur
Eddie scratched this up on a recycled piece of schoolwork during dinner last night at the White Palace. He's very thorough. Eddie's disclaimers about writing on walls and "not to use for break because of anger" come from direct experience in his class this week.
Perhaps we have the next Bill Gates or Warren Buffett?

Slim Jim
Yesterday, me and Grandma were on a walk when we saw a snake. It was a garter snake. It was dropped by a mockingbird, but it wasn't dead. It was alive. I don't know very well how to take care of it. Like to keep it living until after lunchtime, so I called my friend Gabi over and she helped me watch it until after lunchtime. Then, we went in, it bit Gabi, just a little nip, wasn't very bad, and then Gabi set it free down by the creek with me. It crawled over a marshy spot, over a spider web in the reeds, and then an hour later we did not see him again.

My Friends and I Save a Bird
It was drenched, and I thought it was so drenched that it couldn't fly. Then I got Maura and Eoin to bring their net over to it, and then we caught it and we brought it into the garage for a few minutes and gave it food. Then, Mrs. Sharon took it out to a tree in her back yard. And she set it free.
I was proud when I saved that bird.

Half Singer, Half Restaurant Owner, and Half Regular Squirrel
This is Sasha, my pet squirrel. She holds a microphone that looks like a nut. She's a pop star named "Sayshia". She's a multi-millionaire. She owns a restaurant chain of nuts. She just sold her second restaurant for a pop band. One of her biggest hits is called Javelina Stomp. One of the second biggest hits is called I Know Its. She also has Fly with the Geese, Don't Swim, Don't Jump, and that's all of her biggest hits. She's a big singer; everybody loves her.

Dogs Save Big Cats!!
These dogs guard livestock in Namibia and protect them from cheetahs and other predators. To support this program, see www.cheetah.org.
Here is my project:
Anatolian Shepherd Dog
Service
Since 1994 in Africa, it has been protecting herds of goats from Cheetahs, but also keeping the Cheetahs from being shot by the ranchers.
ExpectationS
Keeps the Cheetahs from coming on the ranch and killing the goats, they act as guard dogs. They are kind to the sheep.
Breed Characteristics
From Turkey
Size about 130 pounds, would be enough to scare a big game animal away
Tireless worker
Trusted guardian
Must fit among flock
Must have physical stamina to be able to handle climate changes
Displays high level of intelligence
Often works on its own with the flock and it makes independent decisions
Lives with and guard livestock.
History of Breed
Used in Turkey for thousands of years
Known by natives as the Coban Kopegi which means shepherd dog
Arrived in the U.S. in the 1930's as a gift from Turkey to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The first active breeding started in the early 1970's
Ranchers in the United States used them for reducing and eliminating predators.
Training
Like other guards for livestock, they need to learn who its supposed to guard
From puppyhood on, it lives with the animals it guards.
Obedience training helps it understand its place in the family structure
Will recognize and respect human adults as its leader.
supporting the program
The Cheetah Conservation Fund has provided free Anatolian Shepherd livestock guarding dogs to ranchers in Namibia.
These dogs protect the livestock and this means that the farmers don't have to kill the cheetahs to keep their animals safe.
To support this program visit www.cheetah.org for more information.
